Avetik Isahakyan House-Museum
The house-museum of Avetik Isahakyan has been in operation since 1975, situated in the paternal home of the great lyricist, constructed in 1828 by the poet’s grandfather, Nikogayos Isahakyan. On October 29, 1975, marking the 100th anniversary of the Great Master’s birth, the Isahakyan residence was transformed into a memorial museum. However, it suffered extensive damage due to the 1988 earthquake. In the early 1990s, the original museum building was entirely demolished, intending to construct a new building in a similar architectural style. Unfortunately, construction was abruptly halted for over a decade. The restoration, initiated by the Shirak Regional Administration, gained new momentum in the spring of 2002, and the museum opened its doors to the public. The house-museum has been meticulously restored and designed to emulate the old style, following the descriptions provided by the Master’s relatives in 1957.
