“Chulochnu shenq”
During the USSR, Leninakan, the city of masters, was the center of Armenia’s textile industry. In 1921 In November, in the “Soviet Armenia” daily, the first chairman (prime minister) of the People’s Committee of the Armenian SSR, Alexander Myasnikyan, writes: “Soviet Armenia received an army of hundreds of thousands of orphans and scrawny children.Our country is a place of orphans and immigrants. this is a hell of grief, strife, mourning and suffering.
“It was the “army” of orphans that became the lifeblood of Leninakan’s textile industry.Their number exceeded the number of able-bodied people in the city. In 1975, the Textile Combine named after the May Uprising, the yarn workshop of the Leninakan Textile Combine, Artik, Kirovakan, and Alaverdu branches were reorganized into a group of enterprises of the Ministry of Light Industry of the USSR.The headquarters was the Leninakan textile factory named after the May Uprising, the largest enterprise in the textile industry of Soviet Armenia.
