Saint Nshan Church
Constructed between 1859-1864 through the bequest of Prince Ghahraman Long-armed Arghtyun and funds contributed by the community, the Saint Nshan Church initially earned its name “Astvatsatsin” due to the discovery of the picture of Mary Virgin with Seven Wounds.
However, when a new church replaced the original wooden chapel housing the mentioned painting, it underwent a name change. Renamed St Astsvatsatsin, later christened Yot Verk by the people, the church was then renamed Surb Nshan, thanks to funds collected by Erkainbazuk. The painting of Mary Virgin found its new home in the freshly built Saint Yot Verk Church.
